Thread regarding General Motors layoffs

Layoffs are coming

Layoffs are eminent at GM too. Vehicles are not selling. Get ready for The Great Recession #2. Money is not circulating into the economy, because everyone is at home buying PJ’s, comfy clothes and food. No gas, daycare, oil changes, work clothes and so on are being purchased. Economy is cyclical folks! I’m afraid the home office/working from home is going to throw us all out of a job.

Let's see if WOKE General Motors prices in rising interest rates. How many 100k electric vehicles will sell when car loans exceed over 8 percent.

Good managers know who the good workers are because they're the ones getting stuff done.

Bad managers don't know who's doing the work, but they know which workers they like.

Working from home confuses bad managers because they still don't know who's doing the work, but it's harder for them to pick out one or more buddies they can show favoritism to.

Bad managers are the ones pushing everyone to come back to the office so their world makes sense again

The biggest reason for recession is due to wfh. Nobody "works" from home. Once companies figure this out, they'll make people drive to work. GM will be fine.

How long can GM keep building partial cars that they can't finish due to lack of chips and other parts, and can't sell?

At some point they'll have to shut down factories

A lot of office workers are still wfh, but fewer these days with the push to return to office by management.

But office workers make up less than a third of the workforce.

Your dentist, plumber, warehouse worker, supermarket cashier, postman, and so on could never wfh

Lots of assumptions are being made here. Sure there are many issues in our economy but who is to say layoffs at GM are a sure thing? Are you busy at work? How about the rest of your group? The answer to those questions will tell you if your jobs are at risk.
