Thread regarding Ford layoffs

I've already started stressing

I'm already having trouble sleeping and the news is still fresh. I have no idea how I'm going to go through the following days or weeks (or even months), depending on how long they plan to drag this out. I appreciate the person who blew the whistle on this, but the coming days of anticipation and not knowing will be pure he-l.

@OP

A lot of Ford jobs will be going to "Full Service" suppliers. You can always go to a supplier.

I would recommend finding a position where you need to be on site full time with meaningful and clear objectives that can be measured. Be known as a person that can be counted on and available always.

Anon I would not stress. If we go into a full blown recession there still options out there. One can always turn to a life of crime. When the Soviet Union collapsed many highly educated intellectuals (talking PHDs) did just that and they became what the media are calling oligarchs. Become an oligarch.

Control what you can control....let everything else fall is it may.

Now is the time to prepare, get your resume ready, update LinkedIn, get contact info from a couple reliable coworkers for references, start setting up job alerts and brushing up on the interview process. It's stressful but at least a warning is out there so you're not completely blindsided if something happens. Wish good luck and hope anyone who may get cut lands on their feet. Terrible situation to put people in but it's nothing new based on how things have been going.

This scripture helps me:
Worry
(Luke 12.22-31)
25I tell you not to worry about your life. Don't worry about having something to eat, drink, or wear. Isn't life more than food or clothing? 26 Look at the birds in the sky! They don't plant or harvest. They don't even store grain in barns. Yet your Father in heaven takes care of them. Aren't you worth much more than birds?
27 Can worry make you live longer? 28 Why worry about clothes? Look how the wild flowers grow. They don't work hard to make their clothes. 29 But I tell you that Solomon with all his wealth wasn't as well clothed as one of them. 30 God gives such beauty to everything that grows in the fields, even though it is here today and thrown into a fire tomorrow. God will surely do even more for you! Why do you have such little faith?
31 Don't worry and ask yourselves, “Will we have anything to eat? Will we have anything to drink? Will we have any clothes to wear?” 32 Only people who don't know God are always worrying about such things. Your Father in heaven knows you need all of these. 33 But more than anything else, put God's work first and do what he wants. Then the other things will be yours as well.
34 Don't worry about tomorrow. It will take care of itself. You have enough to worry about today.

Update your resume take inventory of your skills and make sure you have good references. I suspect some people which has been going on already will just look for another job and not stick around waiting to get fired.

Ford is having a he-l of a time hiring people at least in my skill team so i find this layoff season amusing.

You can't control whether they will keep you or not.
Pity parties should only last for an hour or two.
Fretting for days, weeks etc doesn't accomplish anything productive.
Assume you will be let go and take action NOW.

Good grief move on already. I left Ford years ago and never looked back. Don’t get stuck in the mindset that Ford is such a great place to work. Many other places are better.

The cuts will happen quickly. Apply now as it is easier to get hired while you are employed. With luck you will have perfect timing getting let go when you have new position lined up.
