Thread regarding Ford layoffs

Ford Blue vs Model E

Now that we have been made aware that we on the Blue team are only here to finance the lives of luxury and zero accountability for those on the Model E team, I will no longer do anything to assist Model E. I sold all my stock, have enough savings and no debt so I don’t care if I get laid off. I will do everything I can to make things less easy for them, and I doubt they will figure it out. 😎

Ford may ki-l the golden goose before the golden egg hatches. They have gone down this path before. This isn't about employee skills, it is about costs. It is about maximizing profits. Older employees cost too much. It is not only salary, but benefits. If you are an older pension eligible employee with the right skills working in model e, you are blocking a younger employee. If you are an older employee working in Ford Blue, you might be able to stay awhile, since young engineers don't want your job. They will eventually outsource or eliminate it, though. Look at the signs. The company settled lawsuits after trying to eliminate 54 year olds or 29 years of service to avoid retiree health benefits. Then, the company decided just eliminating the Ford retiree health plan was a better idea. Now, they just need to get rid of older folks on the active employee plan. Pensions are the next logical step. Rising interest rates provide an excellent opportunity to buy out pension liabilities cheaply. Good luck to those pre2004 hires hoping to get in a few more years. The benefits you thought you were getting, oh well.

There is post here somewhere about Ford's back stabbing culture. I also think it will become worse. Information hoarding and individual exclusion are also part of it, so are back talking and putting up traps. People will also tell on each other here.

"The days of mechanical and hardware based automotive business is gone forever. Everyone has had time to prepare."

Id--t. 30 years a career and you think you can "prepare" for anything like that? Don't be so naive man.

I don't understand why so many here are shocked or upset. Are only Ford Blue people reading this forum?

The transformation of Ford from a vehicle only model to a digital, software, data, services, and mobility company should be of no surprise. This has been out in the open for many months now. The days of mechanical and hardware based automotive business is gone forever. Everyone has had time to prepare.

Model e will grow and will be the total face of Ford to the world and those who are part of it should be proud and excited for the future.

Blues are the organ donors to the E-Frankenstein. After that they are of no use to Drs Ford and Farley

One article said we sold 27k EVs for 21MY. Now for 2026MY 2Mn EVs. That is a very big jump. A big gamble as well.
Now regarding the cuts. The company talks about having too many heads. JF own words. But yet they continue to staff Brazil & Mexico. Areas that are not major markets. FoM has a brand-new state of the art design center down there. So, what does that tell you?
In case some of you have not noticed in certain commodities after "P" release Design and Purchasing resp. goes south of the border. The older areas of D&R are going "SOUTH".
We have no control over this. been going on for decades.
Then we are told we are Family by BF himself. I guess they will play that tune by the pointer sisters as we are being walked out! BF blows nearly a $1bn on the world largest CRACK HOUSE called a train station I wander why WS does not question that brilliant idea? Man should have been shown the door right then. I guess when you are an emperor you can do what you want. glad I am leaving. I along with many of you do not trust the upper management. refuse to call them leaders because they lack one thing leaders possess. Courage. No clear vision or plan on how to get there. instead, we are told one thing and do just the opposite. So, if you want a very solid TVM idea start with the damn TRAIN STATION and Bill Ford.

We have been fed a woke diet for the last decade and now they have divided the house. No longer One Ford... All animals are equal, but some animals are more equal than others.

Our management team is unwilling to look at long term plans that require disciplined engineering decisions... why... because they shown the door to all the engineers in their ranks that had any common sense and questioned the plan. Marketing our EVs as Shiny and New and hope the customer base is none the wiser is not a long term solution.

You don't see or hear this churn at Honda ,Toyota or VW...The leaders in charge know that disciplined and methodical engineering process will win in the end. Nobody on this forum would hesitate to buy any of these makes without hesitation.

There is nothing wrong with the 8000 engineers that will walk away from Ford other than they are tired of putting up with a process that is broken. Maybe the leadership can take a look at the last 20yrs of Pulse Surveys to get a clue.

This is exactly what I saw coming when the announcement about the 2 divisions first came out. Punishing Blue with massive layoffs is like pouring jet fuel on the flames. The old school Ford backstabbing culture just got turbocharged.
