Thread regarding Chevron Corp. layoffs

The thing that frustrates you the most here?

For me, it's when I see someone who clearly lacks competence easily climbing the corporate ladder. Why does it bother me so much? --- Because those who work hard, give their best, cannot be promoted because there is always some brown noser who gets promoted instead of them.

What frustrates me the most is all the pathetic losers who whine and complain incessantly about others who are more successful than them and continuously try to come up with lame excuses for it.

The way execs are fleecing the company for stock growth to of their own pockets. The buybacks bump the price. Their CIP is based on stock performance. They get big bonuses (in stock). It’s so self-serving and corrupt. They need to invest in domestic operations to help improve America’s energy independence and secure assets for the long haul.

Easily what frustrates me the most is our detachment from the old Chevron Way mantra, "do a good job, grow the company, and you will advance". It's well documented here that 'doing a good job' has become secondary in Chevron to preferred demographics and cronyism - they advance. Stunningly, there seems to be no motivation anymore, at any level, to grow the company. We spend our time now fascinating on diversity and networks, and our management seems content to milk the legacy assets for the time they have left. We throw billions of dollars at business new ventures (has never produced anything profitable), venture capital (again, nothing profitable has ever materialized), and vague 3rd party research (bottomless money pit). You just know the money that will be thrown at the green transition will amount to nothing. There was a time we were all proud to be on Team Chevron. Now, we're just hoping we can keep our jobs before the company craters.

Ay well when I were a lad I asked my tradesman. How does thee get on and become a boss?
He told me "Well son it's like this. There's three ways to get on in life".

  1. You become a fly, a brown nose and hang round the boss's @*$< all day.
  1. You become a good union leader an HR want ya on their side.
  1. Ya useless an they can't risk havin ya on the tools in case thee cost them a lot a money when thee ^#<&$ up.

And you know he was right. Look around you if you go back to the workhouse and you'll see examples of all three!
