My performance is great, but I don't think it means anything anymore. Maybe I'm worrying too much, but I haven't felt any security here for a long time.

About as secure as my ex-wife’s loyalty.
Yeah, me too... feel very secure. I am 57 and don't do much of anything, yet IBM doesn't really have a choice but the keep me around as long as possible.
If you are a 20 something, I would suggest you stay away from IBM. Not the company for you. You will be miserable here.
Very secure right now even though I am almost 60. The Great Resignation is well and alive at IBM... People are leaving every day for better jobs elsewhere. IBM is desperate to keep the old guys (the ones who actually know how things work) at this point.
There's no job security ANYWHERE in the private sector
High-Performance Rating at IBM is a Carrot on a Stick. It keeps you going until the IBM hunter comes out with his shotg-n.
When they RA'd my ENTIRE group, including the manager, CLEARLY individual performance had zero to do with it!
There is NO job security at IBM and hasn't been for almost 3 decades. The smart move is to get out while you can before the recession hits, and jobs at other employers (who actually value their employees) dry up. 😏
