Correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't see UP doing anything to attract new people. Are there any additional efforts to attract new people? The company seems to still go with the flow. When more people leave than the company can hire, it doesn't look like a happy ending.

For what it is worth, had a 1 on 1 w/ a director this week. He spent about 25% of his time discussing morale, (note: I am not a
tey employee) how he, the manager, we as a team could improve it. My work group used to have one of the worst managers in the system. We now have a new one. Old manager caused a lot of guys to quit or transfer. Not saying UP as a whole doesnt have a long way to go.
They won’t do anything about it because this place is ran by sociopaths. Just look at the attendance policy. They give exactly zero fu--s about your safety, health or quality of life. You are nothing more then a liability to them or a necessary evil. Their long term goal is no people on the train and contractors doing everything else.
But what do the mangers even do?
Well....IF slow rolling hiring is their 1PC crew plan they may be about to have a problem. The FRA is expected to publish their 2PC crew regulation for public comments by Friday. We shall see...
You are wrong , why do anything for a new hire when the company knows there get rid of them.
Why hire for a craft that they want to get rid of? They can force one man crews by not hiring. They were going to force the issue last Jan with Brandon's shot moratorium. That fell apart. Now is their chance.
Why offer NEW hires anything special! What about the rest of us that been keeping sh-t running?? If UP cared we wouldn't have to wait 3 years to get a new contract and raise.
That’s why they have to resort to hiring felons. Then, they sugarcoat it as “giving them a second chance”. :)
