Thread regarding Marathon Petroleum layoffs

2022 salaries for entry level 1-5 YOE

i see a lot of bs commentary in this thread about mpc salaries being substandard compared to competitors. time to set the record straight. i’m a CURRENT mech eng in a legacy southern mpc refinery, hired in 2019 at a grade 10. here were my base salaries at a standard performance rating.

2019 - $93k base + 15% bonus

2020 - $97k base + 16% bonus

2021 - $99.5k base + 19% bonus

early 2022 - $104k base + TBD bonus

mid 2022 (promoted to G11) - $109 base

since 2021, starting mech eng pay has bumped up to ~$99k BASE. process engineers get paid even more. all of these boomers are stating MPC pays $80k starting need to dust off their bifocals. times have changed since the 1900s. we also get the option of doing 9/80s or 4 days on, 1 day remote.

Your problem solving skills prove it. You are overpaid.

This is BS.

Bonus % ONLY increases with a pay grade increase.

Call BS on salaries not being competitive, and then show data that does nothing support the hypothesis you tried to prove. You’re definitely a MPC-grade engineer.

Congrats on the “promotion”

My friends at chevron and shell got ~$110k base salaries as ~2014 grads.

Wake up buttercup.
