I have been laid off once in my life and I took a buyout once as well. In both cases, it came out for the better for me. It might have been scary, but as I said, it all ended up way better for me. I look back at them as growing experiences that improved my life and outlook. I can't guarantee this will be the case for everybody, but I think chances are high it will be for most of you.

Yes, you also don't have to stay in tech. Venture out with your talents, and do something that brings you joy.
Agree 100 percent. The people that were offered roles at CA (about 20% of the entire company), are not happy at all there and it’s not like CA was Google.
Acquisitions are very unsettling for a variety of reasons and people need time to go through the process. Denial, anger, bargaining, depression, acceptance. Many people stay in the “denial” phase for a long time. This is normal, but in order to get to acceptance you have to move through all the stages.
As you’ve heard before, take the time now to get your “house” in order. There are many great employers out there and be open to look at smaller companies too.
