Not very well thought out scenario.
My bet is they start of at about $50 billion with an average settlement value of $200000. That’s about one tenth of what veterans would be expecting.
The lawyers push back to get the company to increase the lump sum value possibly wanting something like $250-500 billion.
The company splits overnight to fake bankruptcy. The smaller part takes the blame and takes legal liability with it.
The company reputation gets tarnished in the media hurting the external reputation and the internal sentiment. The company loses talent and business as it sees the worst days it has ever seen.
Of course all of this goes through if the government hound dogs don’t catch the company while it’s playing around with bankruptcy laws. In case they get caught, then it’s jail time for the top dogs.
