I'd be happy to leave Ovintiv and never look back.

What's so bad...nepotism and cronyism. They let go of a Denver employee in October just to repost the job a few months later. Why not hire that person back. And oh yeah, probably made them feel like they were fired vs the actual layoff due to capital reallocation because others were QUIETLY walked out as well. Management only cares about themselves and their empires.
What is so bad about Ovintiv?
Just do it, you won't regret it. There is interesting and satisfying work elsewhere and the after tax compensation difference is not substantial if you are a good employee. Leave the potential severance on the table if you are not happy, it's not worth the wasted years, you don't get those back.
And I know I'm not the only one.
