Thread regarding Cisco Systems Inc. layoffs

Keeping under the radar

This is one of the things that bothers me the most about Cisco, that it is absolutely not desirable to think for yourself and bring fresh, innovative ideas to the table.
How many times have you regretted expressing your opinion that you thought could be useful? Talented people waste their time here because they have to bury their heads in the sand all the time and when they get tired of it, they leave.

The point of working at Cisco is to kick back and collect a paycheck, not to think. Nobody cares about your innovative ideas you mark.

"Fresh innovative ideas from new college hires"

I see. So for you, it's the source of innovation that matters. Not the actual innovation itself. If it comes from people far younger than your generation, it's worthless. You have kids? What an amazing dad or mom you must be.

In CX India, if we fly to high, we get burned or poisoned by Cisco Vishnu attack.

"Fresh innovative ideas from new college hires with zero life experience."

Cisco assigns university hires busy work, and pushes them out after a few years. I highly doubt they care about ideas from new college hires.

Fresh innovative ideas from new college hires with zero life experience. Yeah team! Quick, stroke their fragile egos or they might go to work for Apple or Facebook! This is the asinine logic Cisco has followed for years.

With apologies to Futurama: Oh, a theory about the universe that doesn’t involve disposing of DDTs! GET BACK TO WORK.

It’s not that we don’t encourage innovation or innovative thinking, it’s the internal roadblocks, red tape and other endless processes that stop many initiatives before they start. Absolutely zero agility.

It’s because managers and directors refuse to listen. It’s kind of astounding how deaf they’ve become to anything.
