I don't know about you, but I'm constantly getting new responsibilities. I used to gladly accept additional requests, because I thought it was a good way to demonstrate my skills and to grow a career. However, now I already have too many responsibilities that do not equate my pay and I am completely exhausted. Managers obviously don't know when enough is enough?

Sadly, you have to [ahem, intentionally] make mistakes (a lot of small ones, nothing major or illegal) for your manager to even begin to notice.
Those who are really good only get punished with even more work and pay soon plateaus.
