Layoff from AIG is usually based on nothing to do with you so let that go. There's severance- opt for continuing instead of lump sum so you keep your benefits for however many weeks you get. You will be offered outplacement services like resume writing etc.... I was just in meetings today and it sounds like actual separation won't be until March 23 (in my area anyway).

I’m a career newbie. What the he-l do I do? They haven’t sent us the severance email yet but said it’s on its way. This is my first corporate job and I’ve been with the company since October of 2020. Did I get laid off due to production or numbers or was it random choice?

Layoffs are always upcoming. If you are close to retirement, ride it out and get your package. Focus more on some personal hobbies or try and start a side gig.

If this is your first job, get some experience and get out ASAP

Everyone else other than the Petey crew…..you should leave if you haven’t already

Well said about people laying off AIG. The career newbies are now beginning to leave, and this trend will only get worse. Most telling comment I’ve heard is “I don’t want to be here anymore because there’s no sense of purpose or culture here unless you’re LGBTQ”. Which, of course, we know is just platitudes to the woke so no one bothers to ask why some of these so called leaders get paid so much.

I am seeing a lot of email bounce back due to people no longer working at AIG, shows as hidden and a date. Not sure if they left or they were let go.

My department has lost 20% of its staff in the last two months. Layoffs are happening, but it is not AIG doing the layoffs anymore. People are finally getting smart and laying off AIG in large numbers in GI.
