Probably. But you're applying logic and reason to a company which is apparently incompatible with such concepts.
That, or they're playing a different game altogether. We don't know the rules or the end they're quite after. Make themselves lots of money, sure... But they could do that by building a profitable company, too... So either they're id--ts (and there's every indication they are) or they're playing a long con that hasn't quite been fully revealed yet.
