In the past, it was possible to advance your career at TIAA by going the extra mile and being great at your job. That's no longer true. Now being mediocre is the preferred state because only then does nobody perceive you as a threat. Instead of standing out, it's recommended to blend in. The only way to advance is if you know somebody. The whole thing is completely messed up.

I deserve a seat at the table and it’s not due to my skin color or my s-x! I’ve worked hard all my life to be the best I can possibly be. Don’t insult my intelligence or hard work with a handout. It ruins my credibility, standing and creates a lack of due respect from my colleagues ! The pendulum will swing another way one day and i and others like me will no longer be your flavor of the month. When this happens, you’ll find a way to get rid of me. This practice is what used to be referred to as being a “token” and I’m no one’s token! If businesses were ran correctly and all were promoted based on merit, you wouldn’t have to jump on the “ inclusion and diversity”, PR, dog and pony show. Here’s a tip, give me my paycheck and due promotion for the right reasons. Shove your diversity and inclusion as it’s only skin deep and a half hearted attempt at that! A way to cover for your years of abuse and neglect! Signed, A Minority Woman!
We’ve moved past diversity and inclusion and jumped right to full on discrimination. Call it what you will, but specifically targeting, hiring and promoting based on minority status (be it race, gender, se-ual orientation etc) is discriminatory. Period.
when diversity is on the HR scorecard- how do you think individuals get promoted?? Hand selected & Hand delivered or they scratch the entire candidate list, repost the job and start over that way the top continues to get title changes, promotions, accolades and the BONUS's = welcome to Corp america in today's world it's everywhere.
Your woke credentials and minority status counts for more than your performance
The only way to advance is to be some type of minority preferably a black woman. Specifically in the charlotte office it is quite blatant.
