New store managers

Has anyone else realized they are hiring these new store managers off the street, that don't know anything. What happened to promoting from within. Guess they can pay them less is the real reason. Good managers are getting passed over and leaving. Wow.

You are incorrect. They do promote within the same store.

Relax its almost over BBB the way it was known is gone! Let these outside people come in less money than before and they won't stay there is no future. They are just going to increase the turn over rate . Just read the qualifications they are looking for what a joke !

Who really wants to be a store manager at BBBY, either from within or external?

Not true!!! One of my assistant just was promoted to SM to another location. It’s always been a fact they will not promote up with in the same store. I have a newer SM and I’m a ASM and I think it was a good choice. I get it things are not ideal but if your not staying positive within the store your going to bring down morale!! Be apart of what makes your store great!!

It’s a combination of both. They can promote from within and pay that small 10% increase and keep the wages low. Or they can hire an inexpensive manager off the street that has little or no experience.

Look at the store manager qualifications it’s a high school education with 5 to 7 years experience. They no longer want highly experienced managers with a pay that equals that.

Of course other retailers have a similar qualification and pay scale now. There’s no way for an experienced store manager who is above that scale to transfer to another company and expect to get the same pay.

Not really. The STORE managers are leaving/being replaced by the Asst Managers. And some Department heads are now becoming Asst Managers. Sure a few are hired outside but actually a lot are hired from within…BUT with more responsibilities comes more problems unseen. Also once a manager they like to switch stores :/ so it’s a lot on some of them.

That is mostly an untrue statement. You always spend less by promoting from within. The starting point of your salary and then the 10 or maybe 15 percent increase you will get if promoted will never match the salary of someone off the street for the same position. Facts.
