I started looking for a new job because my boss was behaving totally unprofessionally towards me. And then in the meantime some colleagues left. Now that same boss is talking to me in a completely different tone. I guess he's afraid that I will leave too, because UP can't attract anyone anymore. I'm finally getting a little respect. Does the company have to get into a desperate situation in order to start respecting the existing employees at least a little more?

There is no respect on the railroad. As long as you have a employee number you will not be respected. If your looking for respect your in the wrong field.
