This is happening more and more often here, new hires just don't show up on the first day at work or they only work for one or two days and then disappear.
I am very curious why this is happening because recently it happened again that the newbie left after working only one day at our store? Perhaps BBBY created this phenomenon? Or maybe it's just irresponsible individuals?

This is everywhere not just BBB. Its this new generation.
A lit of the new hires are young people. They have no idea how to communicate if it is not on a keyboard
that's been happening to us for a while. what few people apply, we hire; 75% don't even show up for training, maybe 1% actually train and stay but they always have very limited availability, and the rest show up for training and never come back, or work a day or two and then call off a few times before not showing back up
on the rare occassion we've had a good new hire, that can work when needed and knows how to work, they eventually either leave for college, or graduate college and move on, with no one to replace them
I’ve seen new hires go to the bathroom and walk out, take a break and never come back, not showing up for orientation. Work one day and that’s it never to be seen again. Where is the decency and respect? You get a job act like an adult but proceed to be immature
No call back to say this isn’t for me
Low pay and no hours?
I can understand someone getting multiple and/or better offers but I can’t understand not having the decency, concern or even courage to take a few minutes to let someone know. It just goes to show how much society has changed.
They're all just a herd of pathetic selfish entitled mollywonkers.
It’s the level of kids/people these days either getting multiple offers at once or just changing their mind. Nothing new and it sucks. Has it gotten worse? Absolutely!! But it’s not just us. Many others have the same issue. There’s no commitment or demand. Entitled society of “what have you done for me lately” 🙄🫥
Along with agreeing with the other reply about communication there is a very strong job market so the vanishing ones may have gotten another offer or know they can. It is happening in many places..not just BBBY
I believe this is more due to a general trend where more and more people are not concerned about others. Whether they grew up with technology that required less interpersonal interaction or they just feel entitled, less people feel the need to communicate with others. For me personally I would at least take the time to call or let someone know that it wasn’t working out and I wouldn’t be coming back. I don’t think many these days share that feeling.
