I hope we are far from big layoffs. Unfortunately, the company obviously has a big problem with hiring. If in place of a very knowledgeable employee who left, they hire someone who does not have adequate competencies, I do not consider it a replacement. I consider it a big downgrade of the company.

NM has a lot of tired deadweight in Milwaukee. Too many “entitled” veterans who don’t work particularly hard, bad mouth everything and are toxic to productivity and a positive culture. They busy themselves going to meetings where they bring little value and, when pressed, can’t tell you with a straight face their actual tangible contribution. They are being let go and the company and its policyholders are better off for it. The purge can’t happen fast enough. It’s been a too long and protracted process the last 5 years. Get rid of the deadweight completely. And replace with more skilled, energetic and positive people who can thrive in a true meritocracy.
How do you keep any job when you can't write or speak proper English is beyond me?!
It's a sellers market right now. Markets go up and down.
I totally agree with https://www.thelayoff.com/post/@1fen+1gxGomO7. I had an engineer with only a couple years of experience and wanted a > $100k salary. We typically only pay in the $85k to $90k range for a P2 engineer, but I was told if it means putting a bu-t in the seat to give the salary. They ended up using the offer as leverage for another employer that is fully remote.
Not only downgrade of Talent but likely increase in salary. Nm is working so hard to hire everyone they can, they are giving out some pretty high salaries in desperation to some mediocre candidates. This practice will surely catch up with them, it may take a little time though. They still have lots of cash to spend today. They have been rebuilding a lot of the layers they were trying to minimize in recent years. Seems like for every effort they are quick to hire a new director or two, plus sometimes a lead. Even if it's for a small team/project.
I think we all know that this is Don Roberson’s playbook from HP. He is a cost cutter of talent not a developer of talent in the organization. He cares more about his three piece suits then the human capital his division represents. Sad part is he brought all his yes men and women (KC, BW, MO, TP) with him, pure hacks of culture.
Leave and go back to cali you imposter!
