Thread regarding State Farm Insurance layoffs

When will OT stop?

Started in the fall of 21 and been working mandatory OT since. My interview noted a rare need for OT, which was apparently a lie. Maybe hire more people? One more month and if it does not end I’ll be gone. Not hard to move on to one of the competitors.

@3xok+1guqT5y7- Good to hear you escaped this $hit show. Claims will take a toll on your mental and physical health. Fortunately I'm getting away from this once great company now turned into garbage by the shyster accountant and his flunkies.

I recall when I worked there doing mandatory overtime for over eight years off and on. It would stretch months at a time, sometimes up to six months straight. It really got ridiculous when the servers crashed last February due to the ice storm in Texas and we were working 30 extra hours a month at times. My health deteriorated as did other people and they didn’t care. I remember my boss asked me why I ran myself into the ground and got sick and I looked at my boss like they were crazy. Then simply replied, ‘this company forced me to work mandatory overtime when I wasn’t feeling well and that’s why I ran myself into the ground because I had no other option!”
I am so happy I left, I never think about this place but I do like coming on here to read about what’s going on so that I am reassured that I made the right decision for myself

I worked in underwriting from 2002-2014. I don’t even render exactly when we started mandatory overtime but I’d say maybe 2009. We were still on mandatory overtime when I left that department in 2014. So the answer to your question is…maybe not for a very long time.

Anyone in operations especially in claims needs to Google mental stress and see what it does to you over time. Working overtime affects your stress levels, eating habits, exercise routine and overall quality of life. It is also a leading cause of mental illness which exacerbates physical problems with heart problems, diabetes, alcoholism, d r u g abuse and so on. Be prepared! It will not happen overnight but it does catch up to you and those mandating overtime do not care about your health nor quality of life. If something happens to you, they sure won't be there. If you are beginning to see these signs, be sure to listen to family and your true friends and not the ones who endorse the adverse behaviors. Believe me, it's in leadership too.

This is why the workforce needs to unionize.

Nepotism and puppets feed off employees who actually work. CEO and results are having their glory days. Sickos

Record results on the backs of the workers who are micromanaged to death. I wouldn't be proud of that.

You're a cog in the machine which means you're disposable...gring you down then throw you away. OT stops when you unionize...only then.

How could they possibly be incompetent with record results. And record pay for the CEO?

LOL RARE? Some departments have been in mandatory OT since 2019. Look around at all the obesity.

I’m losing count of how many new hires have already left before reaching their one year anniversary. Mandatory OT cannot continue to be the solution, or we’ll lose more and more people each month. This is a major burden on long term employees.

Again, retired executive Robert Yi a failure who was asked to retire is to blame for this !

Why? It's based on your post. They want you to burn out and leave so they can continue to line their own clicks pockets. Business relationships no longer exist when you have "all about me" leadership.

Another fine example of what they say and what they do are two different things. Always pushing a hard sell.

Ask any of your peers who have been here any length of time about how long OT can go on. There have been periods when it has gone on for years at a time. I can tell you for a fact it is not going away within the next month so no need to wait to start job hunting.
