The fact is companies have a tendency to lowball unemployed applicants. They are always more likely to accept an offer that is far from ideal than those who still have a job. Do yourself a favor and don't put yourself in the position of having to job hunt while unemployed.

Totally agree. I've seen people hang on until they are finally fired.. Then they scramble to find anything out there - usually at a pay cut. Have even seen people get jobs that require a bachelors degree, but they only have a high school degree. Apparently the hiring company didn't bother to check.
You are making a lot of sense.
At this point the boat has sailed and your jet ski has barely enough fuel to get you back alive.
Next time confirm your reservations.
Agree, and would only add that the hiring process is typically slower than you like, so you need to get into the pipeline now in case something happens at the end of Q2 due to a horrible 1st half. Get your resume out there, make contacts, and get onto the calendars of recruiters and HR hiring reps.
But after saying all that, I'm starting to think that if you haven't left let, in this horrible business climate at Xerox and the incredible hiring market, you just won't make the leap.
