$1.42 dividend

Many are disappointed. Do you also think that this dividend is not enough?

Just means no worthy drilling opportunities. Sad days.

We spent more on the dividend than we did on capital projects. Think about that.

Ahh, thanks guys. 2020 EOI'er here. I use the dividend money to buy more long-term stable equities, that way when Chevron stock price does come down, I won't be too exposed. Keep working for me, I appreciate it.

Maybe start treating employees better and have better job security guarantees instead of putting everything into dividends and stock buybacks.

Who are the “many” that are disappointed? Divvy was raised six percent in first quarter this year. Yield is way better than 10-year T-bill, and comes with share price upside. Warren Buffet has been buying like crazy. But maybe OP is smarter than him?

@1vbu, I’m sure you’d have it your way if company employees held more CVX than others on the outside actually do.

It is a fabulous dividend at 3.5% and a big increase over last year. What's not to like?

Should cut the dividend in half and pay employees more to slow attrition

Exactly. They can usestock buybacks as the flywheel for excess cash (along with debt reductions). Higher dividends is a check you have to pay in good and bad times and we all know the bad times will come.

When oil prices come back down again, and it will, the company doesn’t want to be in that precarious position it found itself it for a few years recently of wondering if they could maintain the high yield dividend. There was a touch and go time when the BOD had their backs up against the wall and seriously cutting the dividend and losing their precious little title among the Dividend Aristocrats List. This won’t be allowed to happen again, hence the $1.42 you’re seeing. Be happy they didn’t stick their neck out further, else the next time O&G has another low price period, it will be your neck being stuck out when massive layoffs will be the only solution to keep this ship afloat.

Who’s the many that are disappointed? This is a great outcome per share when you consider a >30% increase in share price since January.
