clever way to get rid of 20% off

first, they tried to stop sending the 20% coupons, but people didn't like that so they kept sending them. they tried raising the price of beyond plus when they realized how much that unlimited 20% off was costing us, but people didn't like that either so it stayed at 29.99. so now, they just raise the price of something like an our table cake dome to 50 bucks, put it on 'sale' for 30 (which is what it should be to begin with), and say you can't use coupons or beyond plus because 'the deal is already so good'

i know places like kohl's already do the whole raise the price too high and put it on 'sale' thing, but i don't know if they restrict coupons like we do now. BBB thinks customers don't notice those things, but the lack of customers now would say otherwise

fnz+1gsaUI1N...I am not understanding your post .there is a technicality that allows it but the ignored it and got fined. Fined for what? I do not think it is illegal to change the price on something. Link please

'they' as in the decision makers at our company; the ones who tried and failed to get rid of coupons and raise beyond plus prices, and the ones who decide to raise the prices so the sales bring things to normal prices, and exclude coupons

“they” is a pronoun used by many non-binary individuals. If you don’t know this you are very ignorant of other people feelings.

JC Penny's and Sears tried the same thing a few years ago. There is a technicality that allows stores to do this. Unfortunately both Penny's and Sears ignored it and got into trouble in California. Big fines and they were monitored for awhile. Grocery stores are notorious for doing this also.

Very shady. Customers have already realized this. I see customers walk out daily…no more wamsutta, no more coupons applied…oh I was looking at this last week and it was $20 cheaper!!! Aggravating for us employees to hear and try and explain why and most importantly the customers.
