Cheaper workforce will not solve the problems that PepsiCo has, but the leadership persistently thinks that a cheaper workforce is the solution for everything. Of course they will continue to hire cheaper labor as long as the job gets done, but, is it really still getting done? Perhaps it shouldn't only be important that the job is done, but that it is done well.

“GBS is outsourcing”
“No, it isn’t - they are Pepsi employees”
Lather. Rinse. Repeat.
That’s how all of my conversations with the GBS administrators have gone for past 2 years. Play the salary arbitrage game, calculate big productivity win, get a promo for your brilliance as a transformation czar, then get onto next assignment before the underlying performance issues arise.
Least they could have done was tried to keep them in same hemisphere for workday overlap purposes.
GBS doing payroll is awful, now I am training managers on how to submit payroll forms. Once they are trained, the managers will send info directly to GBS. I keep asking what will happen to my job, I get dead silence.
MBS has payables in a huge mess. Several of the parts suppliers have us on credit hold, since they are not being payed. Cheaper is not always better.
Most organizations run like this usually face the same fate - collapse. Either wil be sold off in pieces (see Tropicana….probably Quaker next) or buyer with deep pockets makes a hostile bid. Either place is a disaster waiting to happen. The leaders (if that’s what you can call them) could care less - they’re laughing all the way to the bank and when the time comes will cash in big. Meantime a single parent like me making 60k a year and raise my child will continue to suffer from over work and morale burnout. Wonderful company. But hey - send me an auto generated smile and all will be fine. Lord help anyone who works for this place.
