Thread regarding AIG (American Intl Group Inc.) layoffs

I think we can consider ourselves safe

At least for now. There has been no indication of more layoffs coming any time soon and for once I think we can accept that and relax. It's not that I think the upper management suddenly decided that they'll try to save money some other way. It's that we're currently losing enough people to attrition that adding layoffs into the mix would leave AIG in a rather precarious position. Am I wrong to think this?

Look, that's the wrong way to look at it. They can still move all your department to Accenture or other TPA. Then you have the option of switching kind of contract and benefits or leave. Accenture could also pay you more then AIG, but they'll work out you to the bone and you'll handle also other companies tasks.

I agree. In my area, there are no backup people left. If anyone on our team leaves, it's going to be really interesting. No layoffs here.....for now. Vacation time will also be interesting......

Who knows, but I agree you shouldn’t worry about it. Whether they keep you, let you go, or transfer you to a job picking green beans at Dr. Huxtable’s Vegetable Garden, you will be fine. That I’m sure of.
