Thread regarding Allstate Corp. layoffs

Attrition is the name of the game.

The way I see it, the way the company is going to go in terms of reducing the headcount is forcing attrition rather than performing mass layoffs. In other words I think we should worry a lot less about being laid off. It is more likely that they will try to make our lives a living he-l at works in hopes that we leave the company on our own. It is certainly a cheaper and more effective option for them.

Too bad they aren’t smart enough to realize that customers are not going to stick around after poor service. Further customers want to deal with someone in the U.S. Time for the corner offices to wake up. You want to be the cheapest yet you are taking rate hikes, so another epic fail. Time to buy another company so the share holders don’t realize how horrible you really are.

I been saying this for 4 years and no one listened to me is cheaper to make changes to stats and make it so hard to do your job that you get yourself fired this way they don’t need to pay you a severance package.

Definitely home office's new approach. The likelihood of mass layoffs and juicy severance packages are much much smaller than a year ago. The "reduction in force" methods of today are one of the two:

  1. Force move you to an undesirable position that is of need at the moment. If you refuse the assignment they can fire you for cause stating your refusal to take the position and if you take the position they know you are quite likely to leave on your own anyways. Either way no severance and they can at the least fight your unemployment and make it a pain to get and in some states where they side most often with the companies many will be denied. They are already forcing employees to ATSC and CCC roles where no one stays very long.
  1. They will make your current role so horrible and unbearable that they bully, torture, and demoralize you into throwing the white flag and leaving on your own all while crying uncle. If you do happen to stay through the torture and agony and they plan to eliminate your position instead of a layoff severance package see #1 above....

Face it folks....the days of hoping for a severance from this company had dwindled substantially with their new "force them out" strategy.

That’s the name of the game. Ya think they care that adjusters are handling two pendings. Think they care they had rep adjusters handing different types of claims they weren’t trained on? You think those adjusters received recognition or bonuses? Oh wait—they eliminated bonuses just as they told rep adjusters to take different types of claims.

They are miserable at attracting talent and even worse at retaining the talent they already have. Be very careful with this carrier. They’re about one thing—the stock price. Their poor customers get bad service.

No doubt that is the strategy. Get ready for heavier pending levels and more indifferent leadership. But…make sure you take care of your health and have a worklife balance they’ll tell you.
