Thread regarding Citigroup Inc. / Citibank / Citi layoffs

You need to work at least 60 hours each week to meet expectations

It's ridiculous how much is expected of us these days.

A few years ago a colleague turned in his resignation. When asked why, he said he did not feel like he was making any worthwhile contributions. It was rebutted with, yes you are, you’re valued and a are a top performer. He replied with, no not really if I were, then it’d be reflected in my pay and in my bonus. He was gone to another job one week later.

I reached out and inquired about whether it was worth it or not. They not only gave him more money and a sign on bonus but a month later even though he had not been there for a full year it was bonus time. They decided to give him a low end bonus anyway so that he would not feel bad. His low end bonus was 1K more then his Citi average bonus he had been getting. I was thinking ok, so he’s putting in monster hours still I bet. Nope, just a regular 40 per week.

Work 40 hours somewhere else for more pay seems to be the developing trend.

Work smarter. I leave at 5pm, I get 2 ratings. Even a couple 1’s.
