I would rather leave this industry but I wonder how many tend to move into management?

None that are true leaders. Probably about the number that are PIP'ed, 5%. Many that are a-s kissers, lap dogs to their line management, yes men/women, part of the "network" and dominantly white or light skinned.
The key to success at XOM is to never rock the boat. If you can pretend to make improvements without inconveniencing your boss or your boss' boss, step on others' heads while holding a smile, and generally be a yes-man/woman for your line management, you have a good chance at advancing.
None - overseers, bosses and massas.
But no managers in the well-run business sense.
Not anymore anyway.
