What do you think about Emerson’s ne w culture push? Believe it? See changes good or bad? Think it’s a PR stunt?

Most diversity metrics mean nothing outside NAmer besides gender. For gender and maybe LGBTQ+ we are becoming more welcoming of diversity which is all well and good but overall it’s a smokescreen for the internal gutting and profit focus they continue to drive. If the product BU leadership don’t deliver they to will be gone. Exit from O&G ball valve announced this week and more to come.
Opposites?
If you’ve always been racist/sexist and someone tells you “That’s not cool anymore” you don’t think “He’s got a point” you think “He’s woke”
I’ve been told many racist things at Emerson.
It’s not cool.
One of the previous two commenters say that Emerson is too woke and it's ki----g morale. The other says that it's racist.
Am I missing something but aren't they sort of opposites?
I second the “Racist/Sexiest” comment.
But they aren’t unique in Missouri. Unfortunately.
Of course many Emerson employees have never had a job outside the company don’t see a big difference between Emerson and their college fraternity so it’s invisible
I know more people that have left because Emerson is a racist, sexist company.
“Woke” is ki----g morale in company. I know several people have quit and new talent can barely tie their shoes. Meanwhile deliveries are horrible and getting worse…but hey we have the correct ratios! 😊
I don’t know if the company survives the transition. You can’t change over night. Regardless of what you think about management in the DNF days, there was a lot of knowledge that has been flushed quickly. You still need to make money. Getting price is a short term bandaid. Fiscal 23 will tell us a lot.
It should say something when the people responsible for recruiting talent are leaving
The new guy was steeped in the 1960s culture too
The former guy was leading a highly technical company with a 1960’s mindset.
If the new guy outlasts the hundreds of employees who were hired into and steeped in this culture, he may make a difference.
Don’t kid yourself.
Talented people are improving their positions leaving those who achieved their positions through personal relationships and connections.
How many managers attended the same kind of private high school, attended the State U then began their careers at EMR?
60%? 80%
Good times don’t make me forget about the three different “pay freezes” followed by ‘Voluntary Separation’ followed by layoffs.
It’s a PR stunt and leadership doesn’t mean it. It’s the right direction for the company to recruit talent but too late and Emerson is too heavy into oil and gas and chemicals to be a real sustainability leader.
I left 9 months ago in part to the worsening "woke" culture and upper mgmt decisions being made on gender and race rather than qualifications
Emerson has gone from the DNF era to “woke” unfortunately. We are losing talented people at an alarming rate because of this “woke” culture. And, no it is not all the “right people” or demographics that management wants to leave to help them reach their “woke” goals. It is doing severe damage to our reputation externally (despite all the marketing propaganda) with potential candidates. Plus, with all the rhetoric about reducing our presence in O & G why would anyone in that industry want to join Emerson. Bottom line: the culture has gone from bad to worse……..too bad.
