Thread regarding 3M layoffs

High levels of attrition

I wonder if the company will be able to reduce it? I think 3M has totally lost control of staff attrition.

The recent legal problems will bring the end of this company.

The good people are leaving and the lazy or close to retirement folks are staying. HR should figure this out and start giving younger new hires a reason to stay (RSUs like tech companies, etc).

Here is the current problem.

1 in 3 / 4 new people are leaving in 3 years or less after joining.

Boomers are retiring in big numbers.

In a few years not many technical people will be left to work in the lab anymore.

Hence attrition is not solving the " layoff" problem by any means. That is delusional thinking.

3M really doesn't want to control attrition anymore. Senior leadership literally doesn't care. They are counting on the attrition to do a 'quiet' layoff.

Of course this means the best of us will go off and do something else. Oh well...
