I notice that there are more and more people who pursue other opportunities in different fields. I unfortunately don’t have a great range of transferable skills, but I would love to quit oil and gas. That is why I am interested in the experiences of those who managed to make a career change and leave this industry.

I'm looking at a voluntary exit as we speak and will gladly take a pay cut to see my family every night at a reasonable hour and not miss out in any of their extracurricular events. That rarely happened here, and some of us are family men. I've made my keep with stock options many times over. Time to move on and let the usual suckups fill the void and be ground up.
When you compare compensation to O&G, you may quickly chaange your mind. I've looked and nothing comes close. 81
Check out a book called What Colour Is Your Parachute
Don't cut yourself short. Everyone has transferrable skills outside of O&G. Maybe consider participating in applicable training and or upgrading education while still employed here? Then plot your escape while they are still paying you. Anecdotally, I know three people who have left since 2020 and all three are happy with their decision. I believe they took less pay but have a better work life family balance. On Linkedin you can search for people who worke(d) at Pembina and see where they are now. Maybe engage them? Good luck.
