If so can you explain. I'm thinking of leaving

Here’s the thing. If you are interviewing and get an offer—ask for MORE than you think you’re worth from a salary and PTO standpoint. Make the carrier make the decision for you. It’s happened to several of my peers. From strictly a workload and worklife balance it seems most carriers blow Allstate out of the water.
I left Allstate. I make $20,000 more than I did at Allstate (that’s before bonus). My new employer pays 100% of medical, dental, and vision for me and my family. I’m encouraged to take time off, and it’s always family first. There are much better options out there for the people that can take off the blue colored glasses. Good luck with whatever you decide.
I and others have left and gone to places like Progressive, Geico, and a few others. We all keep in contact and it is the same sh-t just different place, depending on the department some say Progressive is worse, some say GEICO, but I know of a manager at Allstate that was harrassing a few women and was let go, he was hired on at another insurance carrier in no time at all so how many others are a part of this.
yup. went to an industry-adjacent organization. 8k pay increase, lesser workload, way better health/dental/vision, few metrics, no surveys, better environment, robust retirement plan, pension. however: substandard tech, less PTO.
jobs like this are out there. go get one. leave the dead soil to the dying
Seems any carrier would be better. Just be sure to negotiate the salary accordingly.
We had a mass exodus from claims on the east coast to Travelers with more in the process of leaving. Better workload, better pay, better leadership. Only partial remote though so it keeps some hanging around if they want full remote.
I left and went to a small carrier.
Feels like the way/culture Allstate had before Tom and Glen. I work 40 hours a week, make more money, and have a much lighter work load.
Allstate has literally become the worst of the big insurance companies.
Went to Progressive from Allsnake in February. Aside from having to work in the office I have no real complaints. Culture is somewhat better and pay is much better. Insurance is insurance so some of the same BS here but if you are going to stay in the industry this was the right move for me. But I wouldn't consider it paradise at Progressive by any means.
I work for progressive, but work from home and do inbound sales.
To the prior commenter, they made you go back into the office?
Isn’t the message here to get the heck out of claims?
It depends on your role. If you are in LDU and take a similar role at PRG, you will have a similar experience at first. LDU is considered the role you cut your teeth on, and you have to pay your dues. However even at Allstate once you start handling injuries life gets considerably better. However after all the cutbacks and Draconian Mandates, the BI, UIM, repped, SIU & litigation roles have become unmanageable. I have moved to Progressive repped and it’s night & day. I have a smaller, manageable caseload. I DO NOT TAKE INQUIRY calls. Yes I gave up PTO, but I worked on my days off at Allstate, and weekends, just to (barely) keep up. I feel like I am on vacation since I only work my own claims and 40 hours. And I am allowed to work hours of my choice, so I end work at 4pm. That alone is enough reason to leave. I wish I had done it 2 or 3 years ago!
I got laid off in 2020. Got a job at Progressive in a comparable role. Slightly better pay, less PTO. Worked there for about 5-6 months but was the same song and dance as Allstate. Nothing more, nothing less. Not any better but not any worse. Same exact thing except the name of the company on my computer screens and pay stubs were different. Went back to Allstate at a slightly higher wage in a less stressful position than I got laid off from to keep my tenure and get the more PTO back and got to work from home again. Didn't care for working in the office at Progressive. Some say they had much better experiences at Progressive and they certainly may have but for me it was all the same. Went back to Big Blue for the tenure and more PTO and work from home.
