Why does EM keep on loosing talent?

Is there a number they have to get to?

The climate is always changing. Malaria was a problem in England during Roman times because was tropical. Nobody blamed human activities on the global cooling that occurred.

Climate alarmists like to blame all climate change on oil companies.

Until every anti-oil protester lives completely without petroleum products, they are just like carnivores trying to promote the vegan lifestyle.

Maybe due to inability to spell. Are you loose or lost?

If EM had any talent they wouldn't have spent 25 years denying climate change only to change their minds.
Smartest people in the room they aren't.
Slow learners they are.

@yzh+1gMJyQu9 sad because I know exactly who this is. He's not a bad guy, but it's crazy how much the promotions change people. He's all in though, marriage didn't work out with his influencer ex-wife, but dude must be pulling 250K+ and RSUs. Insane.

With respect to the comment about Chiefs, there was a time when they were truly technically proficient. Then, they decided to “defrock” a bunch of executive managers, and they became “Chiefs”, thereby diluting the brain pool and increasing the political baloney of the technical executives.

Over time, the executive managers lost so much technical depth, all they ask for from the Chiefs now is a rubber stamp on their unfounded ideas (look no further than LCS or advanced recycling).

The Sponsor system in EM will likely be the downfall of the company.

I have seen some Sponsored persons attain levels of authority in which they could do great damage. Damage by making wrong decisions and damage by refusing to recognize problems requiring a decision.

The Talented people without sponsors just get stepped on.

No value given to the talent that can create a whole PowerPoint full of facts from memory.

All value given to the Sponsored As----e that reduces the PowerPoint to a One-Pager because not understand the data and too many facts might confuse management.

Grammar and spelling. We only want people that can string together a cohesive sentence.

Unfortunately, its not just managers, but also Chief Engineers as well, who got there not by their technical strengths, but by their political skills.

It really is sad how true the sponsored vs talent point is. There was a kid who started as a new hire in my team back in 2013 or so. He wasn’t the brightest I’ve ever met but boy was he good at schmoozing. Every morning he’d be parked at the supervisor’s door talking about whatever bs he could think of. Even got the supervisor to take the group to some breastaurant up in Spring - I can’t imagine that was uncomfortable for any of the women in the group. Always got involved in useless but visible projects, like all those redundant office safety programs. Anyway, I left a couple years after and forgot about all this until I recently met with an old coworker. Well low and behold he’s the only kid from that class who’s still around. Turns out the other two left within 3 years of joining. What a great track record.

Another factor:

Talent is recognized by other companies as a value so the talented people get offers.

Sponsored people have no value and do not get offers, so stay at EM and move upward with help from Sponsor.

Because the people with sponsors are valued 100 times more than the people with talent.

Compare the number of Sponsored people quitting vs the number of Talented people quitting.

Because those that work hard, knows work, and deliver actual results and profitability gets more work dumped on them, and those that don't know sh-t go out for team building events and spent time oh self and company promotions on LI.
