I agree, the compensation for new lot hired in some cases is the same at day 1 as people who’ve been there for 15 years.
I see it as discrimination.

I can understand staying at a faang company for longer but then there are people who stay at some unknown company as a swe for 5+ years. I just see it as them chilling/slacking off, they really enjoy it and want to keep banking the cash, or they still find the work challenging. Any other reasons? With inflation rate up to 8% I can only imagine so many people are going to be jumping after 1 year on the job unless companies start increasing their compensation. Companies tend to reward new talent not people who are being loyal. So why be loyal?
