The Consumer Price Index was released for April. It wasn’t good and neither is the outlook for the near future. Especially for the airline industry.
“One of the main drivers of the upside surprise was a record 18.6% increase in airline fares, which added 13bp to core CPI alone and reflects a boost from reopening pressures.”
The supply chain is expected to suffer at least until the fourth quarter. Not to mention continuing inflation.
“Looking ahead, Bank of America notes that the Russia/Ukraine conflict and China lockdowns remains risks to commodity prices and global supply chain conditions, which could lead to further choppiness.”
