Thread regarding MetLife Inc. layoffs

Top Heavy

Is it me or are we growing more and more top heavy?

Too much focus on growing and promotions at the top and not enough planning to operationalize is ki----g us. We need to grow workforce not upper management.

Having to reason with even more over bloated upper management who are not embracing change is slowing down progress within business areas.

Have to promote up for Press Releases / Quotas / Earn "Fluff Award Lists" via media outlets/ etc.

See "We're so great!" . . .

Anyone who does the MyVoice & Future Work Meetings on what's working and what isn't is an id--t. Any knowledge gained will be used against you.

This Is Not a Democracy!
It's a Publicly Traded Company - Corporate Greed. They can try and disguise it all they want and plant more trees.

They do this for PR and to get more business! Pure and Simple!

I just keep picking up litter and planting trees with pictures suitable for the virtues that I am signalling. I don't worry my pretty little head about all this work stuff.

Have noticed this too. With more work getting pushed down below when we are already drowning.

How else will MMR fund Botox and blow outs? Also AVP is a dime a dozen here and none of them have any real work to do.

“ I've never seen so much back stabbing and defensiveness from a group of senior managers before in my career.”

Sad but true. I see this happening within GTO as well. So much waste at the top where they staff leadership first and then define their own roles and determine what their purpose will be?

Tell me how this makes sense when existing roles and competing leaders exist within the same organization?

Far too redundancy where peer leaders waste company time money and resources justify roles while fighting for same ground.

Leadership wasteland.

The entire Group Benefits Market Management Structure needs to be seriously reevaluated. It is not evolving with rest of business. So much waste and toxic garbage here alone needs to be addressed.

It is so bad that levels below Director are checking out in both IT and Business Areas.

Wake up leadership.

I'm starting to think they don't really care. They get their golden parachute either way. I'm applying for private companies and b-corp jobs now. Working for a publicly traded company sucks.

Agree with you. And I am hearing many voices express these same concerns on IT side as well. Concerns are largely being ignored as political warfare at top continues.

They could fire 80% of senior management in USB and it wouldn't be a loss. I've never seen so much back stabbing and defensiveness from a group of senior managers before in my career. I'm new to the company, so I don't know where the bad man hurt them in the past, but it's clear some seriously toxic culture exists in the ranks here.
