Thread regarding Bed Bath & Beyond layoffs

Why does BBBY keep bad mgmt?

Those managers who are hated by employees and because of whom the most valuable employees are leaving, they are the reason why morale is very low. No company should keep them around very long but BBBY seems to “love” such managers.

They only work there because their friends work there? Yet they could make 2.50 more within walking distance? Wouldn't it make sense if they all walked there?

Same reason they keep complainers like you! Why do lazy store employees complain so much?

Bed bath bought the rights to be the exclusive seller of Wamsutta in the US. Since Bed Bath was doing so poorly it couldn’t afford to pay for the exclusive rights anymore so now you can buy them everywhere. However Bed Baths decision to shift to a bunch of private label brands with no name recognition has done wonders to our sales.

Wamsutta was not a licensed brand - it is owned by Bed Bath.

It’s harder than ever to be a SM at this time. Corporate changes, employee turn over, higher productivity goals, and all the metrics counted.

It’s reasonable that the associates are frustrated. So is the SM

Stores are supposed to focus on #1 conversion and sales, celebrate the wins, acknowledge good engagement, win the hour, win the weekend, push for high productivity from associates outside of power hours, keep hours at budget while doing this and more.

All the while associates are only working at BBBY because their friends work there. They can get $2.50 or more within walking distance of the store. They want to work but that includes lots of socializing and talking and getting on the phones and checking social media. It’s understandable. Work should not feel like a chain gang from prison.

Just saying. It’s hard for everyone.

Management certainly screwed up when they failed to explain to associates, much less customers, that Wamsutta was a license, not a real brand, and that Nestwell and Haven come from the very same Himatsingka factories.

Only underperforming store team members complain about this because they don’t like managers that make them work. Stop being lazy and do some work.
