Thread regarding Allstate Corp. layoffs

Don't quit!

Sometimes I wonder if management has found this page and is posting some of the stuff that's encouraging people to leave on their own. The only one who would benefit from that is the company. They save on severance if you walk away on your own. The more people leave, the more they save. You're doing them a favor by leaving. I'm not going anywhere until they lay me off. Until then, I'm doing my job and my job alone. Any extra work I used to do to be helpful is no longer my worry.

With outsourcing, it's only a matter of time before most of us are laid off. Let's make them pay for it as much as possible.

The OP is pretty oblivious to the real world. Apply and find another job when you can, Allstate pays so low the severance won't matter at all! Those of us that have left are making 10-30 thousand more a year than we did at Allstate.

I would say the OP wants people to stay because they are a manager and the cost of replacing a person is not low at all.

They won’t be laying off any more adjusters until they can, until India is up and running for casualty and liability. They already are for auto, property, and subrogation. The litigation adjusters will be hired out by temp IA’s as needed. Hold on. It won’t be long and you’ll be laid off. Follow the money. It’s not being invested in the USA. Only for temps. The ones they are “hiring” is a ruse. It will save millions by getting you replaced by India adjusters. If you leave before the next layoff round great for them. But there will be another round. The faster they can train up India the more they will save. That is the goal. Be ready. Everyone has a unique situation. If you have decades of service here it may be best for you to wait them out. The fresh hires should leave immediately. This is no place for career growth.

If you have any marketable skills or, for that matter, any self respect, find someplace better.

I'm thinking the OP is some management flak who's bonus will be diminished by higher attrition numbers. Sticking around for the severance is horrible advice.

They are not going to follow the old strategy. If your job is redundant or you're on the chopping block, they'll move you to a different position in a different part of the org, which will be unbearable for many so they'll quit, essentially the same result as a layoff, no extra financial ramifications.

Holding out for severance is not only bad advice, it'll force you to miss out on the current labor market, which is hiring and paying at a record rate. (8

Idk. Now that there is a central CCO, they’re giving us alot of work from other areas where they are very behind and getting OT. it may take awhile. I’m very torn and nobody can seem to give us any answers to help tip the scale.
