Thread regarding Bed Bath & Beyond layoffs

not paying vendors?

my store, like most, are heavy on owned brands that don't sell and light on the normal products that do. i'd heard a rumor that we haven't been paying/can't pay some of our vendors as the reason, and i don't know if i believe it or not, but randomly scanning the basics wall for OXO good grips, and there is absolutely nothing on order for our store, or any store in the area on Active sku's. anyone know if we're having vendor issues?

and don't say 'supply chain', if it were a supply chain issue we'd have things on order

aren’t updating counts? stores don’t order anymore! our inventory is as accurate as it can be, between bad assume receive cartons and the id--ts doing inventory. the OH’s and last 4 week sales are all there, but NOTHING in the district is on order

either some pretend corporate goon or an ex district manager that doesn’t know things have gone from bad to worsr

Look at all the underperforming store employees downvoting to shift blame.

If you don’t have product it’s because you are t updating your counts. Poor execution at the store level leads to poor instocks. This is retail 101. Get back on your routines. Discipline is the bridge between goals and accomplishments!

SM says DM is working to resolve issues, and that there's a learning curve with the new systems and distribution. That being said, our store is actually quite full.

Does anyone need a Cuisinart stand mixer?

Is this really surprising? If they aren't paying the landlords they are leasing their store buildings from why would they pay vendors? If it isn't a payment issue it is complete negligence regardless, what other stores have issues with empty shelves?

if we stop carrying oxo and cuisinart, things are gonna go from bad to worse real fast. also, same with my store, we got 2 pepsi shipments right away and nothing since, and candy has been a carton or two every month maybe. it’s NOT supply chain issues because the items would show as ‘on order’ and be delayed, but there is nothing on order. and poor execution at the store level? what is the store supposed to do? we don’t control ordering anymore, we receive what we get. and with the new DC’s, instead of getting product going from vendor to local warehouse to store, more and more it goes from vendor, to DC, relabeled (poorly), then for some reason STILL to the local warehouse, and to the store.

It’s probably due to poor execution at the store level. Corporate employees work hard and do a great job. Anything wrong in the stores is their own fault.

Dude there are supply chain issues everywhere. Haven’t you watched the news? Putin has absolutely destroyed the supply chain. BBB has plenty of money to pay vendors so that can’t be the issue.

Could be, but even if a vendor like OXO was holding merchandise until they received payment it would still show “on order” on our end if an order was input and sent to them. Unless we just aren’t placing orders because we know they won’t ship until we complete payments for previous orders.

This is one of the reasons Toyr R Us filed for Chapter 11 initially. They needed bankruptcy funding to secure orders for the holiday season because more and more vendors started question the outstanding balances and holding shipments.

Could explain why our PEPSI cooler's been empty for over a month. Candy is pretty weak too.

Corporate ordering is on a rotation so I think that has a lot to do with it.

What I would suggest, in this case, is that whenever someone asks why you don't have Wamsutta anymore, just tell them that Bed Bath & Beyond is still carrying the same Himatsingka bedding and towels, but just decided to stopp paying a third party licensor to call them "Wamsutta".

Honestly I think it has something to do with all the new brands we carry now. Getting rid of the old and bringing in the new.
