Thread regarding Chevron Corp. layoffs

D&C attrition

I got laid off from CVX D&C in 2020. Recently a buddy of mine got contacted for a contract position at CVX D&C. This tells me attrition is picking up.

Can someone confirm is this the case? Shall we see any permanent positions posted soon?

You're probably right, I was laid off and recently got contacted for a contract position. but I have managed to land a reasonable job in Renewables so will never go back if I can help it, the CVX environment is too toxic.

I think things are different this time. We will see lot of people (EOI and laid off) return as contractors, particularly in D&C.

Full time hiring in D&C will only be for a (small number) of college hires.

Having seen more layoffs than I care to remember, one thing is always true. Virtually none (I can only remember one case) of those laid off are ever re-hired. Sometimes those who EOI'd or retired are rehired, but only as contractors, not full time employees. Once you're gone from Chevron, odds are you're gone forever.

Pretty much all gaps in orgs will be filled with contractors.

Not many 55+ left in D&C after 2020 bloodbath.

I expect attrition to go up as long timers leave to lock in their lump sum before the next interest rate hike.

I doubt it was for a position in a BU, the PDC is coming up so I would think any full time positions are posted after that finishes.
