Thread regarding Walmart layoffs

Team Leads/Coaches don't work

I am curious is anyone with HO connections know if there is any conversations about how poorly stores have become with the GWP/Teaming structure they implemented Nov 2020.

Any rumors on, if any changes being discussed?

I often work completely alone in my section, often told that the Coach will come by to assist me. He never does. He'll show up, ask if I need anything then say he's on lunch and peace out. My first week I was alone in the deli/bakery, working all 3 sections and I hadn't even been fully trained, alone for 5 hours on a Friday in a large town. He showed up as I had 9+ customers waiting on me, with fryers going, 2 batches of chickens roasting and asked if I needed anything. I said I could use help with the customers on the one side and he just said "Sorry, on lunch" and dipped. Why even ask if I needed help? These people are useless. I get calls in my section asking for customer support because it's almost always "I've been on hold for 1-2 hours, can you help me with xyz?" And of course I try but 90% of the stuff they need help with I don't have the tools or knowledge to deal with. It's chaos every day.

You can always go find another job. One of the goals of putting GWP in was to help encourage marginal associates to see their way out.

Right before GWP was implemented they made almost everyone who wanted full-time. Then at the beginning of this year they started to cut hours. Now full time get 32 hours and everyone else has been getting 24 hours or less. Some people only get one day a pay period. Needless to say, many have quit to find more hours at other employers.
Also, with the GWP change training has been no existent. Most people say it is not my job to train but to supervise. There are people who have worked here for months and still do not know how to read a bar code or how to stock. Place is a mess and no one seems to care. Just meet the metrics by any means necessary and all is good.

Our store bosses say they are not supposed to work. Just supervise. And that’s all they do.

According to store manager, they’re not supposed to and their job is to only follow up on the teams

Of course, like any other place to work, if you don’t like it, you can go find something else.

I'm a team lead and I assure you none of us are standing in a circle texting on our phones. Most of us were DMs before being forced into a role we never wanted to be in.

We was a great store, on processes, clean backroom, mod integrity, price changes current, never a high shrink store.

Like a light switch, it happen that fast we became a hot mess as soon as GWP was inserted. The backroom is full, late mods, price changes out of control and that was before the inflation, I can't recall the last time I saw a rollback beanflip on a shelf.

I hate my job now, I get anxiety on my was to work. I am use to defend Walmart as a employer. I think they destroyed the culture with the last structure change. I loved that SWAS mentality before. That's gone now. My area use to be 3 DMs and 7ish sales floor associates throughout the day. Not it's just me and on a good day 3 TAs per day. If it's my closing shift its a total lost.

My days are near, I have to talk myself daily from stepping down. I'm a 25+ year associate with numerous Role model evals. I give it my all everyday. It's not enough.

I agree. To many chiefs, no Indians! Most of them just boss you around and play on their phones while they stand in a circle and chit-chat! Down the toilet you go!

Anyone else store manager out of touch with reality with she wants done? Like gives more things for me to do and I'm the only person in my area and can't even get my area caught up.

I left right before streamlining began; I knew their plan wouldn’t work. Their idea is to save money on wages and health insurance.

stores look horrible, instock is horrible, management of stores is horrible. Store standards are in the toilet. Worst thing they could have done.
