Thread regarding Imperial Oil Limited layoffs

Why is it no longer possible to grow a technical expertise here?

I recently talked someone out of coming here. My opinion is that young capable and talented people have nothing to look for here. It is true that this is no longer the IOL I came to a few years ago. It used to be possible to grow technical expertise here but not anymore. It is unclear how and why this happened.

Technical experts are treated as third class citizens in the much maligned ranking process. The company values "faux managers and supervisors" for their presumptive skills at vacation, absence management and email forwarding. Many retirees and former employees are back as contractors while the incompetent managers and supervisors are on the side lines cheering them on. This is in addition to a steep increase in student interns and other contractors masquerading as consultants. Fact check this in the Imperial finance function.

For their personal short term gains these clown leaders are sending all technical work to cheap overseas. They don’t care about quality. Their own kids will beg for job one day and will kick their a-s for ruining this company.
