Thread regarding Chevron Corp. layoffs

“Curious about Leading Performance?”

No more leading performance corporate jargon! I can’t take it!

@1tgj, no this is not about layoffs. Employees with no career goals, no adequate skillsets, nor ambitions generally post here about how they are falling behind and getting overlooked for promotions, raises, and here about simple terms that trigger their inadequacies, i.e., "performance", which they have none of, so it triggers them. Many who post here cannot fathom how others are so successful when they are not.

NH is leading more glop from the top. LP is his baby…….and is so process heavy that it required an army to deploy it….and there is still a GM of LP and a group under that GM still deploying!!. Absolutely sad to see that in today’s time that our executive leaders still believe in control and hierarchy through process vs incentivizing, motivating and modernizing what leadership really looks like. At the same time, NH would be an upgrade for CEO Vs Jeff G who has always been about his own propaganda and agenda super passive aggressive and manages up sweetly to bile politicking around him for position and control…..EB would be the best choice by far vs NH and JEff G…..

ACCOUNTABILITY…… that’s the only thing that’s needed. Everyone must be held accountable for their core functions and duties. That’s all.

NH is too old for a chairman bid. He has yet to get any EVP experience and he is about 55, near the max age for a chairman to start their 10-year tenure. Ideally, he would need to be EVP of U/S or D/S today and age 52 to take over for MW in three years. Contenders are EB and JeffG but both have gaps to fill. Expect JJ to retire soon and his replacement will be key.

LP is just dusted off CLG stuff that’s been around CVX for years. Same consultant had his hand in company pockets for all those years. NH convinced JJ to go back to it, consultant changed names to rebrand but it’s still garbage. MW needed JJ support so went along with it. NH needed some corporate wide something to call his own for future chairman bid. More wasted money than some country’s we operate in GDP thrown away. Then had BCG people involved in deploying the other consultants stuff!! Chevron Way

Why do we need an initiative to do what is just good business! (Looking externally). Unbelievable! And we probably paid a consultant to come up with this when it’s something our leaders should already know to do and to be held accountable for. Yet another reason I had to walk away. Thanks for listening, had to get it off my chest.

And NH talks like he invented the idea of using benchmarks in the hyper competitive AMBU landscape. Least humble leader I have seen in 35 years. Full of it!

I heard that “Leading Performance is how we operationalize Chevron’s commitment to competitive performance using benchmarking and aspirational target to drive improvements.” Isn’t that clear? I wonder if they few a bunch of corporate words in a bag and tossed them around.

What do the Leading Performance coordinators do?

When leading performance was rolled out to the top few thousand leaders (PSG 30 and up), MW said anyone not on board with it could leave. That’s like a layoff but without the fabulous package.

Is this about layoffs or something else?

Leading performance is only for leaders. The rest of us are only competitors. See how simple?

I'm still confused what is the difference between competitive performance and leading performance. Competitive performance is a component under leading performance, and you would think that the consultants could have made up different words.

Leading performance initiative was redundant. What a waste of resource and time. No one could ever explain the difference adequately between LP and how performance is measured in PMP. This is the kind of craziness that needs to stop.

Moving forward we will be limiting our slogans across the enterprise as follows:

  1. Efficiency
  2. Productivity
  3. Competency
  4. Profitability
  5. Honesty

Please discontinue use of any and all other slogans, jargon, mottos, and woke speech. *We could only hope!!

My favorite part of this was when a major BU had Project Lode**** rolled out and then Corp came right behind them announcing Leading Performance…so the mgmt in the BU had to scrap the project name and adopt the LP moniker, because they were exactly the same thing. Very efficient use of resources right there.

Leading performance was a hilarious setup by the execs to get great bonuses. Since we were already beating the competition, they said we would all get big bonuses if the stock beat the S&P500. Guess what happens when oil prices skyrocket due to war? The general market tanks, while CVX skyrockets. Massive bonuses for all parties.

This is all about looking good to Wall St. and CNBC. The numbers are readily manipulated to make Chevron look good to investment firms.
