Thread regarding Collins Aerospace layoffs

Am I the only one who was blindsided by this?

I didn't expect we'd be having any layoffs any time soon considering how high the attrition has been. I honestly thought that was enough to negate the need for layoffs. I guess this place has found a way to negatively surprise me once again. I'm just wondering, between the people leaving and those who are being laid off, who's going to do the actual work?

They will have interns and co-ops do the work. They onboarded a few hundred this past Monday.

Yeah this is nonsense. We are hiring good engineers as fast as we can find them in many locations.

Is this Cedar Rapids you're talking about or elsewhere?

Collins new hire retention rate for February (90 day retention) was 6.7% meaning 93% of the new hires quit and took other jobs. Shocking amount of money they spend on recruiting shocking again. Their brand is pretty much shot at this point. If you look at their temporary staff they’re hiring potential was .03%. Another dismal number.

The attrition rate isn't as high as people make it out to be sometimes. And new folks are starting all the time. People come and go every year. They're just more vocal about going, these days, it seems.
