What's the most asinine thing you're heard a manager or "leader" say?

"I was minding my own business doing my job when a senior-level employee walked over to my desk and asked me a question. He followed up his question with the line: "And be VERY CAREFUL how you answer." I've never been witness to so much arrogance in my career, and I'm close to retiring!"

Best thing to do when nearing retirement is do nothing. Don't quit, just don't work. See how many paychecks you get for not showing up, not doing anything. Believe me it can take over a year.

“We’re not taking orders, we are creating orders” after a senior manager asked me to make 25 absolute bogus opportunities to drive up pipeline to save his bu-t. He then went on to grill me on what “progress” has been made on these bogus deals where I have not had one conversation with someone from the customer

We're going to launch this new thing like Dell did. We are going to do it in 3 months, 1% of the cost, and no resources to work on it.

I heard an SVP say, and I quote: "I don't know why I'm in this position. I have no idea what I'm doing."

Makes you feel good that id!ots like this are making seven figures after bonuses and the rest of us have to do 2 or 3 jobs just to make up the large gap in executive incompetence.

When chairman Liu spoke at the 2009 kickoff and lambasted the employees over the lackluster performance during the previous year. That's right, the fearless founder of Lenovo blamed the U.S. employees for a bad year during one of the worst recessions in history. If that doesn't speak volumes about executive greed and general hatred of the people beneath them, I don't know what does.

from an SVP at an all-hands meeting some years ago: "Your responsibilities are to Lenovo first, your family and everything else second."

Should read "you've", not "you're".
