Belk is lagging behind in pay and just about everything else, in the Charlotte Market Target is now starting at $16, while Belk can’t even attract teenagers at the $12 pay rate they claim is “competitive”. While store managers collected a lump sum bonus this month of up to $25,000 depending on what store and their sales/productivity results. The average Belk worker makes a shocking $11 per hour while some new hires are working at a rate of $12. BELK executives are now saying “love it or leave it” “the grass is not always greener” which is a gaslighting tactic to make employees second guess their idea to leave this dreadful company. RVP’S are trying to come up with incentives for workers, but people are literally leaving Belk by the bus load each week.

EVERY new hire interview says Belk does not pay competitive wages, and those are the very few people that actually come in for an interview. We've had open positions that have had no applications in weeks and months. not one application!
@2vbw Now that is a wonderful and deep smart thinking I have seen since Belk declared Chapter 11 last year! Sycamore Partners still the owner of Belk today trying to reduce Belk big heavy debts but doing nothing to change the way they treat workers or Belk company is doing retail business. It is why they got what it is coming as many Wall Street retail experts said it last year that sooner or later Belk will have to close many stores and or declare liquidation! This is happening right now and the beginning of the end of Belk retail company after 130 years legacy!
$24.00 an hour is for specific job positions, not cashiers, and may also only be in certain states like New York. Some Belk locations have raised the pay rate to $15.00, but then that means someone who has been with Belk for 20 years is making the same as a new hire.
Dream on Belk workers. Dream on. Belk will never pay $24/Hr for anyone working at Belk until this earth stops rotating and when He-l freezes all over. Only Store Managers or Executive leaders get bonus and big raise at Belk. Don’t believe what Belk top stupid leaders do. Watch their actions. Actions always lie better than words at the top!
Talk is cheap at Belk. If action speaks louder than words, Belk stupid cheap top leaders should know to keep valuable Belk workers by paying at least $15 or up to $24/Hour to motivate them not leaving Belk. The honest truth is Belk can’t afford to pay that much to workers because Belk company will go belly-up within a week without money to pay utilities bills and their loan shark creditors!
