Thread regarding State Farm Insurance layoffs

Everybody is so easily offended these days

And I'm not even talking about the hot-button issues, I'm talking about simple comments and constructive criticism. These days telling somebody to do something that's his or her job equals slapping them in the face. If you try to correct them, even worse. Half of the people who complain that too much is expected of them are not even doing the bare minimum. What a joke.

Outside insurance companies, whether you are in tech or banking.
if you said anything other than H1-B visa program is wonderful.

You will never have a real project besides training projects for H1-B workers until layoff.

And your role will be replaced by another H1-B worker, with a different title of course!

@1noy. Did your baby tail get offended by our constitution? Is it that you hate America so much? Is it ok for me but not for thee? Blah blah blah! Does it hurt you when you don't have power nor control over others? Fine example of what OP is saying. Are you triggered? More of the same college snowflakes....

@1mhs The power will shift. Watch! I've been around to see it happen. It's slowly starting now except this time it's coming with the fury of the varsity and not the p-e wees.

@1kxx….The Constitution and Bill of Rights have absolutely nothing to do with the relationship between employer and employee. You can be a classless tool, and everybody else, including your employer, can respond the way they see fit.

It's their way to completely control you. I'm so glad to be at the point in my life I can say what I want to whoever's I want when I want. No! They will never take away our beloved bill of rights nor constitution. It is something many have died for. Don't disrespect it nor take it for granted. If you do, you are silently allowing them to be Putin or Hi---r. Also, always exercise your freedom of choice as to what you listen to. That's the beauty of America. Freedom of speech and choice. Freedom is not an entitlement. It is a God given right. Anyone who takes that right away is evil and that includes government and businesses.

To those offended people: Go to Ukraine. Live what they are living. Think of the families and relatives of the police being shot. Think of the victims of the Chicago kids being shot. Think of those families who don't have enough money to feed their family. Think of the homeless. Yes! They are offended by words. Sad. So very sad that we have gotten so weak to allow this behavior. Grow up and don't sweat the small stuff.

@rxs+1

No joke. I saw last year that there were companies telling employees they’d be fired over micro aggressions. Then they said they can’t define micro aggression because it is all in the way the person who is offended perceives the comment.

They did give some examples of things that COULD be considered micro aggression.

Inviting a Black co-worker to join a sports league, especially basketball. This could be either outside of work or a company league. You could be accused of assuming that because they’re Black that they are good at sports.

Another one was an example of an Asian co-worker with an upcoming birthday. You ask one of their friends for gift ideas and find out that the person really has a favorite restaurant that just so happens to be Asian cuisine. So you get them a gift card to said restaurant. Yup. Could be perceived as a micro aggression because you bought an Asian person a gift card for Asian food.

Oh. And if a minority employee says that something is racist or offended them, you can not say something as egregious as “In my opinion I don’t think they were being racist”.

Company was Deloitte.

Doesn't help that employers are embracing "micro-aggression" training. Now every comment can be seen through the lens of aggression.
