Thread regarding Lowe's Cos. layoffs

Ethical Violations. Should I Report?

So, here’s a fine mess I find myself in at my store.

I’ve recently discovered that my store manager has given our scheduling manager their password. How do I know this? Edits have been made to the scheduling managers time card using the store managers sales ID on days when the store manager hasn’t been available. You can view these changes under the “audits” in Kronos. And these edits haven’t been just small issues, the scheduling manager is actively padding their time card. They’re adding time when they haven’t been in the store, although they were scheduled. (Security recordings can prove when they arrived.)

I don’t know if the store manager is aware that the scheduling manager is adding extra time to their time card, but they violated policy simply by giving their password in the first place. I’m aware of other senior managers who’ve been terminated for exactly this reason.

But here’s the problem. I don’t dare report it. The culture in my district is so corrupt that I have ZERO faith that this will lead to any disciplinary action other than on me! Everyone outside of Lowe’s that I’ve told this issue to have urged me to just walk away and ignore it. They’re convinced that I’m simply going to get terminated by my store manager long before they do anything about them. And I have to admit it, they’re right. The truth is that I’m more likely to get retaliated against than they are to get fired. I simply don’t dare to say anything because I NO faith that the company will protect me.

Yeah, I know all about the anonymous reporting, but let’s face it, it wouldn’t take much to figure out who reported this. A little basic reasoning is all it would take and they’d know who did it. Then I’m scr3wed.

It’s really galling to me that I know this is happening and has been happening for months! I simply have no faith in this twisted company that I can say anything and not pay the price.

Any comments?

You can report it but if they are on the good side of the DM and AP nothing will happen. Heard of a SM that was terminated for something he didn't do, the DM didn't like him, and they promoted an ASM that was actually doing wrong. But he was buddy buddy with the DM. Associates tried to tell AP and District people but they wouldn't listen

I would report this to your AP department. One type of dishonesty, when unchecked, often leads to other types of dishonesty. Not sure how their relationship is with your senior management but this is something I would hope they take seriously. I’m sure it wouldn’t be the first time they would have had to research Time Theft. Hate to hear that is what is happening and wish you the best of luck.

Why you want to work afraid , do you really want to be like that, speak out my friend, free your mind do the right things if they terminating you is call retaliation and you are not going to be away with empty pockets! Do it . That is the culture at the store, everyone talk behind but not one choice to speak out when they have the opportunity … the only thing that stop you in life, is your self . When something ends something else start .

Report it but make sure you make copies of anything so if they retaliate you're in great shape.

Maybe get a new job and then report it. To high high ups. The real corporate office. Might not do anything about it but you won't care as much because you'll be in your new situation. I wouldn't report it while there because it will go bad for you.

I worked at another retail chain where this was rampant and the most they did is move the worst offender to another store and promote the 2nd worst offender to take worst offenders place.

Do not report it to Area HR as they are not there to protect you. You can try to do it via anonymous route but I don't believe it is anonymous. If I were you, I would just find another job - walk away from the toxic behavior.

Ethics point is a joke and is recorded. The district manager will play the recording to the store manager to see who it it then it’s down hill from there

Grow a pair and report it. Lowe’s is a dumpster fire there are plenty of other places to work that you will be much happier at. They don’t care about you
