Anyone know if Belk plans on giving us one this year? Hope it is more than 2%.

@3yfq So happy and so proud of you not put up with stupid and pathetic raise nonsense at Belk. The big problem Belk company is betting on that many people. working at Belk needed a job to live and support their family. If all Belk workers don’t show up call in sick and walkout one day, this stupid and pathetic Belk company will definitely go belly-up within a week! Belk knows it but still betting on us because we need a job and abuses us at 24/7 everyday! The truth hurts ain’t it?

I don’t know about any of these other retail companies, but I do know that when I saw that pathetic raise in my paycheck last year, I quit the next week and got out of retail all together.

The target in Greenville is giving $16 an hour and day shifts belk was paying 10.00 in Greenville last time I checked and giving a 4-9 shift. Plus target clearly explains what your job duties are as Belk does a bait and switch and makes you do things you were not hired to do .

I agree with Wonderly absolutely. Instead of bringing up, for instance, Target as a desirable workplace model go try to get FT in there and see how they’ll bleed you dry! I’ve heard a lot about constant yelling, humiliating, belittling managing style which is considered normal culture in there. I don’t say Belk is perfect, I say there is nothing to envy about Target and similar places getting mentioned in here.

I’m an hr lead and the post from shhhh partially checks out. Anyone who’s been on the belk ones call and hr calls knows that belk will be raising their wages to $12. Belk said that some stores are getting a higher $$. But also, let’s be quite frank. While $12 may not seem like a lot, sadly there’s still people who are making $9-11 dollars in my store. Around here, food lion starts you off at $8, and Walmart $12. Lastly, I was a Style Team leader at target two years ago, and Target seems to only hire people under the age of 30, ideally teenagers, who will only get 14 hours a week. So the folks making $15 at Belks, please do complain more about your .50 cent raise, while majority of us will be at $12 range.

WORK is something I am doing at cheap Belk until I win the LOTTERY! Will .50 Cents raise at Belk company make you richer tomorrow or would you rather do nothing and get a $6 million dollars salary like Belk CEO? Life is tough!

From my understanding, the hiring range has been “updated” for all the stores. $12 will be the minimum base for all employees, but some stores are getting a higher base hourly. “Hard to hire” stores are getting $13-15. All P43s are still at $15, but may see a .50 cent raise which is 3-4%. Management raises will be based on the store performance, so if your scorecard was below 87% expect to see 2-4%
