Thread regarding Emerson Electric Co. layoffs

The leadership at Emerson is not interested in their employees

They don't give a damn about retaining the talent or making sure that there are enough employees to do the work so everybody who is still here is not overworked. All they do is find ways and reasons for more layoffs so they could reduce the numbers even more, even if it's not realistic. If you're considering joining, don't. You'll be happier anywhere else.

Just caught these insights on LinkedIn:

  1. Mental resignation happens long before. The physical resignation is the final act of a loss of hope.
  2. You can’t try to appreciate someone on their way out. It is a little too late.
  3. Money motivates only to a point. People rarely leave just for money.
  4. Career progression is one of the biggest factors to retention. Every job plateaus. Create a career path for each employee to ensure they stay motivated.
  5. Once trust is broken, it's hard to regain.

I'll let these points stand on their own merit.

Bloomberg’s Brooke Sutherland has done some articles on Emerson. She might be interested in hearing from the employees. And if Lal is serious about wanting to change the culture, he should have no problem with candor.
